How to price an extra website page

One extra page may reuse a template, or it may introduce a new design, content type and workflow. Price the actual work.

Check what is reusable

Ask whether the page uses an existing layout, needs new components, includes supplied copy, requires original imagery or introduces a form. A testimonials page and a searchable case-study archive should not receive the same automatic price.

Estimate the whole addition

Include design, build, content entry, navigation changes, mobile checks and review time. Note any third-party costs separately. If the client needs it before launch, identify which existing tasks it displaces.

For a fictional example, three extra hours at an internal target of £50 gives £150 before collection costs. If the entire amount is subject to a 3% fee, £150 ÷ 0.97 is £154.64 when rounded to pennies. This is arithmetic, not a recommended market price.

Send a decision, not a surprise invoice

I can add the testimonials page using the approved layout. It adds £155 and one working day to the estimate. This includes supplied copy, up to six testimonials and one feedback round. Shall I add it now, replace another agreed item, or keep it for a later phase?

Use the actual fee you intend to charge in the written approval. Record the final agreed amount rather than assuming a calculator suggestion automatically became the contract price.

Use this on your next project

Record your estimate and the final fee actually agreed as separate values.
